The City of Liberty has announced that Chris Deal, director of the Parks and Recreation Department for the last 17 years, has resigned, effective July 25 to accept a similar position in Sanibel, Fla. [Additional info...]
Liberty City Hall and the Liberty Senior Center will be closed Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Trash and recycling pickup will be delayed one day following the holiday. The Liberty Community Center will be open from noon - 6:00 p.m. Essential and emergency services will remain operational during the holiday.
The tour meets at the fountain next to City Hall, 101 E. Kansas St., and is led by Kevin Fisher of the Clay County Archives. The First Saturday Walking Tours feature a different historic district or neighborhood each month through October. All tours begin at 10:00 a.m., last about an hour, and are free and open to the public. Call 439-4537 for more information.
