Day Trips

Experience the Kansas City Metro with other members of the Liberty community through Day Trips with Liberty Parks & Rec. Transportation is provided via the Liberty Access Bus from the Liberty Community Center to various restaurants, attractions, museums, businesses and more so you're able to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Quality Hill Playhouse - "That Old Black Magic": We’ll first enjoy lunch at a local favorite. Then we'll hop on over to the Quality Hill Playhouse where we'll take in "That Old Black Magic". Description as follows: From “Stormy Weather” and “Come Rain or Come Shine” to “Blues in the Night” and “Black Magic,” Harold Arlen brought the blues from his early days at the Cotton Club to Hollywood – and left the Songbook with a string of standards. Featuring our piano, bass, and drums combo with clarinet and saxophone.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art: The museum’s history is rich and the collection is deep. You will discover true originals and mankind’s greatest achievements, from ancient to contemporary works of art. Through the Eyes of Picasso, will be on display at the time of this trip.

Money Museum: During the private tour of the museum, our group will see all of the exhibits, the Cash Processing viewing area, the Vault viewing area and more. What to bring: Valid Photo ID, a camera, an iPad if you want to partake in the iPad scavenger hunt after the guided tour.

New Theatre Restaurant - Barefoot in the Park: Newlywed Corie wants everything about the new apartment to be perfect for her new husband Paul. But it has no furniture or heat, the skylight lets in the snow, the paint job’s all wrong and the bedroom is too small for a bed. Just when things couldn’t get any worse, Corie’s mom and potential boyfriend show up. One of Neil Simon’s best comedies, BAREFOOT, received an Oscar nomination and four Tony nominations including Best Play.

Kaufmann Memorial Gardens:The Kauffmans’ world travels inspired the creation of a space comparable to parks throughout Europe. The garden features bronze sculptures by Tom Corbin among lush and colorful annual and perennial plantings, pruned foliage framed by stone walls, brick walkways and playful fountains.
